The day before the start of Ukraine's U-21 national team at Euro 2025, head coach Unai Melgosa answered questions from the media at a press conference.

— What result would you consider successful for the Ukrainian national team at this tournament?

— For us, it was very important to go through the path we took to get here. We need to believe in our strength and in how we achieve our goals. This is part of future success for me. We are here to play against strong teams with quality players. The result is certainly important, but it's also crucial how the players handle powerful opponents.

— What is the atmosphere like in the team right now?

— The atmosphere is very good. Players are working at the level we need them to be. They believe in their strength but also respect their opponents.

— You qualified with a strong result, does this give you confidence going into the finals?

— Yes, we did good work that gave us some momentum. The qualification matches along with friendly games provided us with some clues on how to act in the final tournament.

— What is your team's strongest element?

— Ukraine's U-21 national team has many strong sides. For example, the experience of those players who have already played in the main squad of the national team. This is very important because it means they earned a call-up to the senior team. We believe in our team's strength and cohesion that will allow us to play well at this tournament. 

— Have you made any changes to the team composition before Euro, or are all the best players here?

— This is the team I wanted to see in the final part of the Euros, these are the players I wanted to play with. There are a few footballers who played in qualification but for various reasons they are not here now. It's unfortunate that they aren't here, but I am satisfied with those I'm working with.
