Today, May 9th, the Ukrainian U-16 youth team (players born in 2009 or later) will play their third match at the UEFA Development Tournament in Finland — against Hungary.

The game starts at 10:00. A live stream will be available on the UAFA YouTube channel.

Recall that earlier, Ukraine lost to Greece (1:3) and Finland (0:1).

Recall that on December 5 in Nyon, Switzerland, the draw for the first round of qualification for Euro-2026 (U-17) took place. As a result of this draw, Ukraine's youth team ended up in Group 1, where it will face Italy, Montenegro and Estonia. The host of the mini-tournament will be Estonia.

54 teams were divided into 12 groups of four participants and two groups of three participants. The host of the final tournament, Estonia's national team, will also participate in the qualification.

Based on the results of the first round of qualification, 14 group winners and 14 teams that finish second will advance to the second round of Group A. The remaining 26 teams will take part in the second round of Group B.

Teams advancing to the second round of qualification in Group A will compete for seven spots at Euro-2026 (U-17) in spring 2026. Estonia, as the host of the tournament, has received an automatic bye. It is worth noting that the second qualifying round in Group A also serves as a qualifying round for the 2026 CS-2026 (U-17) in Qatar.

Moreover, teams from both leagues of the second qualification round will compete to improve and decrease their rankings before the first round of Euro-2028 (U-19) qualification.
