Earlier in the group stage of the Euro-2025 (U-19) main round, which was hosted by the Serbian city of Vrnjačka Banja, the blue-and-yellow team confidently defeated Montenegro (9:2) and the Netherlands (6:2). In the decisive match of their group, Ukraine faced the hosts who also secured two victories. A draw would have been enough for our boys to secure first place.

The first half was played in a tense battle. Our team had an edge in moments and regularly troubled Makivich. Once, the Serbs were saved by a crossbar. On the 16th minute, however, the blue-and-yellow team finally broke the deadlock — Prykhodko scored with a powerful shot from distance.

The hosts started the second half well and Belimov had to come into play. Then Ukraine made several inaccurate attempts. Later on, the Serbs took control of the game. Towards the end of the match, they played with five outfield players but this did not bring them success. On the contrary, the Balkan team could have conceded an empty goal. In summary, our team held onto their winning result — 1:0.

Thus, the blue-and-yellow team secured first place in the group and qualified for one of four European championships. Along with Ukraine, Moldova (the host), Spain, Slovenia, Czech Republic, and Turkey have already qualified for the final tournament.
