WU-17: Ukraine triumphs with another convincing win in EURO 2025 qualifiers

On November 16, the Ukraine WU-17 women's team continued their campaign in Round 1 of the EURO 2025 qualifiers in League B with a dominant victory over the hosts, Malta.

In their opening match of the qualifying tournament in Group 2, Ukraine triumphed 5:0 against Moldova. Today, they faced Malta.

The hosts were unable to put up much of a fight against Ukraine. By halftime, the score was already 6:0 in favor of the Ukrainian side. Karina Lespukh and Darya Kolodiy each scored twice, while Evelina Kuptsova and Milena Ivanchenko added a goal each.

In the second half, Ukraine netted four more goals. First, Viktoriya Savkina completed her brace, then Sofiya Konovalova found the back of the net, and Zoryana Hladun capped off the scoring with the final goal of the match, bringing the score to 10:0.

Ukraine's next match in Round 1 will be against Romania on November 19, with the top spot in the group on the line.

Twenty-eight teams will compete in League A, including the current champion, Spain, and seven teams promoted from League B based on the results of the EURO 2023/2024 Euro Round 2. The participants were divided into seven groups. Each group will play in a mini-tournament format hosted by one of the participants.

Teams that finish in fourth place will continue the season in the second round in League B. The seeding of participants for the second round will depend on their first-round group standings. The Faroe Islands will also participate in the competition despite having a direct ticket to the finals as hosts.
