Yehor Yarmoliuk: "My goal for this camp is to debut and win both matches"
Ukraine midfielder Yehor Yarmoliuk commented on his first-ever call-up to the national team.
"It's a great honor. I found out about the call-up from the team administrator, who called me and said I was included. I immediately contacted my family and shared the good news. I’m very happy. My teammates and coach also congratulated me, and everyone was very happy for me.
I’ve been warmly welcomed by both the players and the coaches here. The best footballers from all over the country are assembled in the national team. While there’s more rotation in the U-21 team, the national team has a more established squad. It's an honor for me to be here.
My goal for this camp is to debut and win both matches. As for the number I’d like to wear, it’s too early to think about it since I’m the youngest on the team. I’ll take whatever number they give me.
Serhiy Rebrov congratulated me and said everything would go well. Did I expect a call-up earlier? Everything comes at the right time.
I flew here with Illia Zabarnyi and Vitaliy Mykolenko. I interact with them more because we play together in England, and I spend the most time with them.
I liked the first training session. We worked hard and had good results. As for nerves, I think everyone who comes to the national team experiences some anxiety at their first training session at least,” Yehor Yarmoliuk shared.
Additionally, the Ukraine national team will play two away matches in the UEFA Nations League 2024/2025 group B1 in November. On November 16, they face Georgia in Batumi at the Adjara Bet Arena on matchday 5, followed by a match against Albania on November 19 in Tirana at the Air Albania Stadium on matchday 6.
