Women's EURO 2025. Venue change for Turkey vs. Ukraine match in first round of playoffs

The venue for the first match of the first round of the Women's EURO 2025 playoff qualifying round involving the Ukraine national team has been changed.

The opening game was originally scheduled to take place on October 25 in the Turkish city of Diyarbakir at the namesake stadium. However, due to poor pitch conditions and ongoing grass restoration, the Turkish Football Federation has decided to move the match to Istanbul, officially confirming the Esenler Stadium with UEFA.

The return match, nominally a home game for Ukraine, is scheduled for October 29. It will be held in the capital of Moldova, Chișinău, at the Zimbru Stadium, which has a capacity of over 10,000 spectators.

Both matches are set to kick off at 18:00 Kyiv time.

As a reminder, following the group stage of the qualifiers, the two best teams from each group in League A — Denmark, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, and Spain — secured their spots in the final tournament of the European Championship, which will be held from July 2 to 27, 2025, in Switzerland. The host nation's team also qualifies automatically. The remaining seven spots will be decided through two rounds of playoffs (home and away matches).
