Danyil Abakshyn: "It's simply incredible! So happy to be here right now"
Ukraine futsal player Danyil Abakshyn reflects on the 9:4 victory over Venezuela in the Futsal World Cup 2024 quarterfinals in Uzbekistan.
With a win over the South American team, the Blue and Yellows have reached the World Cup semifinals for the first time since 1996. Ukraine will face Brazil in the semifinal, which will take place on October 2 in Tashkent.
Danyil Abakshyn, who scored a hat-trick against Venezuela, shared his thoughts with the press service of the Futsal Association of Ukraine.
— Ukraine is now one of the top four teams in the world. How does it feel to be part of a team that is rewriting history before our eyes?
— These emotions are simply incredible! I’m so happy to be here right now. A huge thanks to all the guys, the entire coaching staff, and all our fans. I can’t even describe these emotions — it’s just the best! We’re in the top four!
— What does it feel like to score a hat-trick in a World Cup quarterfinal?
— Finally, the breakthrough! It's all thanks to the team. So many assists, and I still missed a few chances. It’s unbelievable!
