Andriy Shevchenko: "We are just at the start of a two-year cycle and evaluating national teams comprehensively"
Andriy Shevchenko, President of the Ukrainian Association of Football, commented on the performances of Ukraine's U-21 and national teams in September.
"I want to congratulate the Ukraine U-21 team on qualifying for the European Championship. Under Unai Melgosa, the team has shown excellent results in their group, winning all their matches.
I am grateful to Serhiy Rebrov, under whose leadership we are seeing progress in the work and results of all levels of our national teams.
In addition to the U-21 Euros, we also have the U-20 World Cup ahead, with Dmytro Mykhailenko’s team having qualified. Alongside the senior team’s qualification for the Euros, we see comprehensive success in the work of the coaching staff currently working with our teams.
This is why we see potential in the chosen direction and fully trust Serhiy Rebrov. He has a free hand to implement ideas and experiment.
Unfavorable results at the start of the Nations League will not change our strategy. The UAF's task is to support the global goal of getting the national team to the World Cup. We are just at the start of a two-year cycle and evaluating national teams comprehensively. Serhiy Rebrov and his team have a lot of work ahead, and we continue to support them,” said Andriy Shevchenko.
