Hobby players from Mykolaiv, located in Lviv Oblast, have advanced to the third preliminary round of the Vbet Cup of Ukraine for the 2024/2025 season.

One of the leaders of FC "Mykolaiv," Andriy Gurskyi, commented on the official website of the UAF about what helped the city team defeat a first league "Metalist" (3:1):

— If in the first round we took control over "Agrobusiness," then getting past the Kharkivians was harder. The guests were more mobile and controlled the ball more often in the first half, earning a deserved goal.

In our dressing room during halftime, there was a serious conversation; head coach Vitaliy Shumsky found the right words, and we believed that all was not lost. Fans also pushed us forward at this crucial moment. It was important to equalize as quickly as possible. We managed to do so, and when the guests were left in the minority, we added pressure by utilizing the full width of the field, and they could not withstand it, conceding twice. FC "Mykolaiv" secured a convincing victory — 3:1 and continues writing history in the cup competition.
