The national team of Georgia, which is a rival of Ukraine's team in the League of Nations for the 2024/2025 season, has completed its participation in the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

Vili Sundhol's wards at Euro 2024 in the group stage found themselves in Group F alongside Portugal, Turkey, and the Czech Republic. Within their preparation for the tournament, the Georgians played one friendly match.

Georgia faced a tough opponent in the Round of 16, but details about their match are not provided.

2024/2025 UEFA Nations League

As known, after the results of the UEFA Nations League 2022/2023, Ukraine's national team, finishing second in their group, remained in League B.

After a change in format for the group stage tournament in League B, where Ukraine will participate:

  • First place — promotion to League A;
  • Second place — play-off matches against the third-placed team from a League A group;
  • Third place — play-off matches against the second-placed team from a League C group;
  • Fourth place — relegation to League C.

Play-off matches are scheduled for March 2025.

The positions in the UEFA Nations League 2024/2025 will determine which group, with four or five teams, they will enter in the World Cup qualification draw.

World Cup Qualification Path through the UEFA Nations League

The qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Europe will run from March 2025 to March 2026 and consist of two rounds.

1st Round: Twelve groups with five or four teams each will play from March to November 2025 under the traditional group stage system. The twelve winners of these groups will secure direct spots in the final tournament.

The twelve second-placed teams, along with the four best third-placed teams from UEFA Nations League groups who finish below second place in their European qualification group stages, will participate in mini-tournaments.

2nd Round: These mini-tournaments in March 2026 will consist of one-legged semi-finals and finals. The sixteen participants will be divided into four playoff paths. The four winners will secure spots at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
