Oleksandr Tymchyk: "I want to thank our fans, especially our Armed Forces"
Ukraine national team defender Oleksandr Tymchyk comments on the draw with Belgium (0:0) and EURO 2024 group stage exit.
"We fought hard, as Belgium couldn't score. I want to say one thing: I am proud to be Ukrainian, and after such games, we have nothing to be ashamed of returning to Ukraine.
It's very tough... We didn't lose to Belgium, but we lost in the first game against Romania. That's why we didn't advance from the group stage in such a big tournament. It seems like it's the first time in history that a team has earned four points and didn't advance from the group.
I want to thank our fans, especially our Armed Forces, who defend our country and allow us to play at this level. The Ukrainian championship continues for them. They enable us to play football and show worthy results. I would like to apologize to them for not advancing. We tried, but that's football," said Oleksandr Tymchyk.
