Serhiy Sydorchuk: "Right now, I'm focused solely on our game and our result"

Midfielder of the Ukraine national team, Serhiy Sydorchuk, alongside head coach Serhiy Rebrov, participated in a press conference ahead of their third match at EURO 2024 against Belgium.

— How mentally prepared are the players for the match?

— Of course, we are ready. However, the louder you talk about something, the louder the echo will be. We should stay silent and do what we need to do. We will see what we can show.

— You play in Belgium. What will this game mean to you?

— First of all, I want to thank the people of Belgium because I have had many good moments here. This includes school, children, and stores—everyone treats me well. But tomorrow, my family will support Ukraine.

— If there are two draws in the last round of our group, the Ukrainian national team will not advance to the playoffs, meaning we can't progress with four points. Meanwhile, some teams only need three points to advance. Is this fair?

— At EURO 2020, we advanced from the group with three points, so it’s all fair.

— What will advancing to the playoffs mean for the team and the country?

— For the team, it means we’ve completed our first mission. For the country, it means we’ve extended this fairytale for a few more days. We all understand that these are difficult times, with Ukraine at war. Every such event means a lot to the people.

— Will you be following the events in the parallel game?

— Right now, I'm focused solely on our game and our result.

— How will the hot weather conditions affect the game?

— Both teams will be in the same conditions. It's good that the match will start a bit later. I think it will be a bit cooler.
