2025 Women's Futsal World Cup: Ukraine discovered opponents in main qualifying round
Today, on May 30, the draw for the main round of the European qualification for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup took place.
The host of the inaugural 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup will be the Philippines. The Ukrainian national team will compete in October for one of the 16 spots in the final tournament.
Women's Futsal World Cup 2025. European Qualification. Format
25 teams will compete for four spots in the World Cup through the main and elite rounds. Spain and Portugal have received direct tickets to the elite round.
Main Round (matches - October 15-20)
23 teams were divided into five groups of four participants each and one group with three. The group winners will advance to the elite round.
Before the draw, 23 teams, including the Ukrainian national team, were seeded into four positions based on the coefficient rating of women's national futsal teams.
The blue-yellow team landed in Group 3, where they will face the teams of Czechia (the host of the mini-tournament), Northern Ireland, and France.
Women's Futsal World Cup 2025. Main Qualifying Round
Group 1: Italy, Croatia, Serbia, Lithuania.
Group 2: Hungary, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway.
Group 3: Ukraine, Czechia, Northern Ireland, France.
Group 4: Finland, Slovenia, Moldova, England.
Group 5: Sweden, Belgium, Slovakia, Latvia.
Group 6: Poland, Netherlands, Kazakhstan.
Elite Round (draw - October 31, matches - March 18-23, 2025)
Eight teams, including Spain and Portugal, will be divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the final stage.
The first Women's Futsal World Cup will take place in 2025. Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament. Quotas for participation in the World Cup are distributed as follows: Europe - 4, South America - 3, Asia - 3, Africa - 2, CONCACAF - 2, Oceania - 1. One more spot will be allocated to the host country (the Philippines).
Following the introduction of the Women's Futsal World Cup, UEFA will expand the Women's Futsal Euro to eight teams. The tournament will be held every four years, with the next one scheduled for 2027.
Recall that Spain won all three Women's Futsal European Championships held before this moment - in 2019, 2022 (postponed from 2021), and 2023. The Ukrainian national team finished fourth, third, and second, respectively, in these tournaments.
