In the 9th round of the first league's championship group, the strongest team in the second-tier division could have been determined prematurely. For the leader, "Karpaty," it was necessary to defeat "Left Bank" at home, while the closest pursuer, "Ingulets," had to lose points away from home against "Epizentrum."
But things did not go as expected. The Lvivians, scoring three times in succession, managed to let victory slip (3:3), while "Ingulets" thanks to a brace from their striker Artem Sitall won the day in Kamianets-Podilskyi (3:1).
Now it will be decided who becomes the winner in the final round in Petrove, where "Ingulets" will host "Karpaty." The hosts need only a win.
As for "Left Bank" and "Epizentrum," they can now calmly prepare for promotion matches. They will face teams finishing respectively 14th and 13th in the UPL.
In the relegation group, after today's matches, competition among the strugglers has intensified. Currently, all three of those who will be relegated directly are known — "Chernihiv-SVSHM," "Hrynik-Sport," and "Kremenchuk." Two playoff participants will be determined in the final round.
