The FIFA Council adopted several important decisions regarding the organization of women's club championships, the first world indoor soccer tournament for women in 2025, and other tournaments. 

Prior to the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok (Thailand), a meeting of the FIFA Council took place. According to an official statement from the International Federation of Football, several important decisions were adopted. 

• The International Match Calendar was approved.
• The first women's club world championship will take place in January-February 2026 and will feature 16 teams. Thereafter, the world championships will be held every four years.
• Two bids for hosting the Women’s World Cup 2027 are officially under consideration: Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany (joint bid) and Brazil. They will be presented to the 74th FIFA Congress for a final decision.
• The women's indoor soccer world championship in 2025 will take place in the Philippines.
• The distribution of places among world football confederations for the Women’s World Cup U-17 was approved (AFC—4; CAF—5; CONCACAF—4; CONMEBOL—4; OFC—2; UEFA—5).
• The distribution of places among world football confederations for the Men’s World Cup U-17 was approved (AFC—9; CAF—10; CONCACAF—8; CONMEBOL—7; OFC—3; UEFA—11).
• Qatar will host the FIFA Arab Cup in 2025, 2029, and 2033 on a free invitation basis, meaning that the competitions will not be included in the International Match Calendar.
