The teams quickly exchanged goals. In the 12th minute, Sudakov entered the penalty area and scored, while Sikhan opened the scoring. Later during a "Chornomorets" attack, the ball bounced to Shtogrin, who shot past Riznik.

Towards the end of the first half, "Shakhtar" pressed their opponents. First, Bondarenko hit the post, and then he scored from a penalty awarded for Saluk's foul on Eginaldo.

At the beginning of the second half, Sudakov increased the miners' lead by passing the ball across midfield and scoring into the far corner. Shortly after, Eginaldo missed a good opportunity, while later "Chornomorets" had several decent attacks.
