The draw for the qualification round of the 2025 European Championship among women has taken place. The Ukrainian team will compete in Group V4, where they will face players from Wales, Croatia, and Kosovo.

The head coach of the Ukrainian women's national team, Volodymyr Pyatenko, shared his impressions about the draw results on the official website of the UAF:

— The Ukrainians have landed in a group that is roughly equal in terms of participants. Therefore, it's hard to name anyone as a favorite. Those same Croatians were aiming for promotion to League A but suffered heavy defeats at the hands of Norway twice. Players from Kosovo moved up from League C, surpassing Bulgaria, but just recently my protégées confidently defeated this team twice. As for the Welsh players, they dropped out of League A but an entire group of their players are involved in prestigious English championships...

Although a detailed analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of our competitors is still ahead, I can already say that the Ukrainians will be geared towards securing a place in the final stage of Euro.

Since two of the first rounds will take place at the beginning of April, we plan to gather for preparation near the end of March. Where exactly — depends on the schedule.

Results of the Euro-2025 qualification draw among women's teams

League A

Group A1: Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Finland.

Group A2: Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Czech Republic.

Group A3: France, England, Sweden, Ireland.

Group A4: Germany, Austria, Iceland, Poland.

League B

Group B1: Switzerland, Hungary, Turkey, Azerbaijan.

Group B2: Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Israel.

Group B3: Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Ireland, Malta.

Group B4: Wales, Croatia, Ukraine, Kosovo.

League C

Group C1: Belarus, Lithuania, Cyprus, Georgia.

Group C2: Slovenia, Latvia, North Macedonia, Moldova.

Group C3: Greece, Montenegro, Andorra, Faroe Islands.

Group C4: Romania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Armenia.

The distribution of spots for Euro-2025 will take place based on the results of the next league cycle. Teams compete in groups of four or three (League C). Eight of the best teams from League A (first and second places) will qualify directly to the final tournament, where they will join Switzerland as the host country.

Seven remaining spots will be contested over two rounds of playoffs. In the first round, in one path, teams that finish third and fourth in League A will play against group winners and three second-place teams from League C. Eight winners advance to the second round.

In another path, four group winners and two best second-place teams from League B will face off against the remaining two second-place teams and four third-place teams from League B. Six winners move on to the second round.

In the second playoff round, 14 national teams will directly compete for seven spots in the Euro-2025 final tournament where a total of 16 participants are expected.

Paths for teams in knockout matches may be adjusted to account for Switzerland's participation in League B while it is represented as the host country at Euro.

If Switzerland finishes first, second or third in its group in League B, then the best fourth-placed team from that division will participate in the playoffs.

Rising and falling in rank

Simultaneously, teams are also competing for positions in the next national league cycle starting in 2025—2027:

— winners and second and third place holders in League A groups will remain in League A;

— second-place finishers and three best third-place finishers in League B groups will remain in League B;

— second, third, and fourth place holders in League C groups will remain in League C;

— group winners from Leagues B and C will move up to a higher division;

— fourth-place finishers in A and B league groups, as well as the worst third-place holder in League B, will drop down to a lower division.

Matches 1—2 rounds: March 3—9, 2024.

Matches 3—4 rounds: May 29 — June 4, 2024.

Matches 5—6 rounds: July 10—16, 2024.

Playoff draw: July 19, 2024.

Round 1 of playoffs (2 matches): October 23—29, 2024.

Round 2 of playoffs (2 matches): November 27 — December 3, 2024.

Final tournament draw: December 16, 2024.

Final tournament: July 2—27, 2025 (Switzerland).
