The first matches of the UEFA Europa League-2023/2024 play-off round will take place today, featuring the only Ukrainian team at this stage of European competitions — FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

The miners ended up in the Europa League after finishing third in their group during the Champions League group stage and will compete for a spot in the round of 16 against French side Marseille.

It is worth noting that Portuguese Benfica, goalkeeper of Ukraine's national team Anatolii Trubin's club, will also participate in the play-off round.
