The draw for the second round of qualification for Euro-2024 (WU-17) has taken place, and according to the results, Ukraine have been placed in Group A5, where they will face Spain, Netherlands, and Turkey.

Head coach of the Ukrainian women's national team, Serhiy Sapronov, commented on the official website of the UAF about what his players are counting on for this tournament:

— According to preliminary information, the mini-tournament in our group will be held in mid-March next year in the Netherlands. In my opinion, the hosts and Spanish team will be favorites. The other two teams, Ukraine and Turkey, will compete for third place, which allows staying in League A.

— Have you started gathering information about your opponents?

— There shouldn't be any problems with that. The same Turks will definitely participate in friendly matches in February.

— And when are your players going to gather together?

— It's hard to say, we'll likely limit ourselves to a three-day gathering in the Netherlands in March, right before the start of the second round of qualification.

— Which positions in the women's team still cause concern?

— The core of the team, which is 12-13 players, has been preserved. We will continue to select the rest. Every position needs reinforcement.

— Are you counting on foreign-based players?

— Yes, Alessia Osipchuk from Italy's "Atalanta" and Anastasiya Mighal from Hungary's Debrecen are leading the team. Recently, someone advised me to pay attention to our young compatriot who is playing in Finland. Next week we will start gathering information about her.

League B

Group B1: Belarus, Montenegro, Lithuania, Andorra.

Group B2: Bulgaria, Slovenia, Moldova, Azerbaijan.

Group B4: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Armenia, Kazakhstan.

Group B5: Northern Ireland, Malta, Luxembourg.

In the second round of qualification, seven teams will be determined to join Sweden in the final stage of the European Championship for girls under 17 years old. Also, teams that move from one league to another will be decided. 

In League A, 28 teams will compete in seven groups, including seven teams that rose from League B after the first round. The winners of the seven groups in League A (and the best runner-up if Sweden finishes first in their group) will qualify for the final stage, which will take place from May 5 to May 18, 2024. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will start the season-2024/2025 in League B.

In League B, 22 teams (including those that dropped out after the autumn stage from League A) will compete for promotion to League A in the next tournament's first round across six groups (four with four participants each and two with three).
