State University of Trade and Economics team claimed silver at FISU University World Cup

In Jinjiang, China, the 2023 FISU University World Cup Football took place.

Representing Ukraine in these competitions were the women's team from Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University and the men's team from the State University of Trade and Economics (Kyiv). And it was the latter that clinched silver at the event!

Overall, the tournament, held from October 21 to 31, featured eight women's and twelve men's teams. The International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the Chinese University Sports Federation organized the event.

In the group stage, our women's team suffered defeats against France (0:1), Thailand (0:5), and Brazil (0:5). However, they secured victory in the seventh-place match against Guinea, winning 4:1.

As for the men's team, they triumphed in the group stage against representatives from Australia (6:0) and South Korea (2:1). In the quarterfinals, they defeated students from Argentina (3:0) and then Uruguay (2:0) in the semifinals. In the final showdown against Brazil, regular and extra time ended in a draw (1:1), and in the penalty shootout, the opponents emerged victorious (6:5). Thus, the men's team from the State University of Trade and Economics claimed the silver medal at the World Cup.
