After losing points in the 4th round, the leaders of Group A, "Karpaty" and Buzkivska "Niva," expressed a desire to address the issue. Lviv'ians thrashed "Metalist" — 3:0, finally earning praise from their coach Myron Markevych, who said that this time there were no problems with realization, while Igor Zhabchenko's wards snatched a victory over "Bukovyna" — 1:0.

Of today's matches, the derby in Volochysk was of particular interest, where "Agrobiznes" hosted "Podillya." This was precisely one of those cases when nobody wanted to lose, and a draw must be recognized as fair — 0:0.

And in the battle of relegation candidates, despite playing without an entire group of key players, "Prykarpattya" dismantled "Khust" — 7:0. A hat-trick was scored by Andriy Homa.

In Group B, the first points were lost by "Ingulets." In Boryspil, Artem Sitalo opened the score at the 24th minute, forcing the goalkeeper of FC "Mariupol" to capitulate. However, Sitalo was ejected from the field in the 39th minute. The "Cityans" attacked heavily after halftime but managed to escape defeat only on the fifth added minute thanks to Artem Terykhov's goal — 1:1.

The Petrovets immediately took advantage of the situation, and "Viktoriya," following a win over "Girnyk-Sport" (1:0), narrowed the gap from the leader.

Another derby took place in Kremenchuk, where "Kremen" unexpectedly suffered a heavy defeat to "Poltava" — 0:6.
