In the fourth qualifying round of the Vbet Cup Ukraine-2023/2024, First League FSK "Mariupol" players defeated elite "Kolos" in a penalty shootout — 5:4 (regular time — 2:2).

Head coach of Mariupol Oleg Krasnopiyorov shared his impressions from the match in Boryspil on the official website of the UAF:

— There was no feeling that everything would be decided in a penalty shootout, so we did not train specifically for it the day before the game. As you can see, nerves were stronger in my players during this football lottery.

Did I believe that we could save ourselves from defeat when we were behind in extra time and our opponent was ahead? Simply knew that the boys would fight until the end; perhaps luck was on our side as well… But, to repeat, what pleases me most is that my players demonstrated tenacity, which is highly valued in cup battles. However, there was no need to specifically prepare the boys for this, as everyone was eager to show themselves against a more prestigious team. I believe they succeeded.

Who would you like to meet in the next round? I don't know about my players, but for me — "Vorskla". It's not hard to guess: it is with "Vorskla" that I played the most matches in the elite division and was invited to the national team of Ukraine from this club. After all, my coaching career began at "Vorskla"…
