Today, the second round of the Ukrainian Cup draw took place, in which teams from the first league joined amateur and second-league clubs.
And one of the most notable among them, Lviv's "Karpaty," was eliminated after a loss in Ivano-Frankivsk. To be fair, it should be noted that the hosts fielded a youth squad bolstered by several first-team players. The main coach of the green-and-whites, Myron Markevych, did not hide the fact that his charges prioritize first-league supremacy and securing a spot in the UPL.
However, this hardly bothered the Ivano-Frankivsk team, which punished Lviv for their lack of respect with two goals, scored by Yuri Radulskyi. The only thing the guests managed to do was narrow the scoreline at the end of the match to a minimum — 1:2.
On the other hand, another two teams from Lviv Oblast took the cup tournament more seriously. In Stryi, second-league newcomer "Skała 1911" defeated first-league "Khust" — 5:2, and in Mykolaiv, local amateurs playing in the oblast's top division claimed victory over first-league "Bukovyna" — 1:0. By the way, in the previous round, Mykolaiv locals forced another representative of Chernivtsi Oblast — "Fazenda" — to withdraw.
Prematurely eliminated from the competition was first-league "Kremenchuk" — after a loss to debutant second-division team "Kudryvky" (0:3).
In two more matches, opponents had to determine the winner in a penalty shootout. The tiebreak did not betray footballers from club "YUKSA" and Ternopil's "Niva."
