On June 16 in Switzerland, the draw for the first round of qualification for Euro-2024 among women's national teams (WU-17) took place. According to its results, the Ukrainian footballers' opponents in Group A are Germany, Romania, and Austria.

— We ended up in a fairly balanced group,— said head coach of Ukraine's women's national team WU-17 Serhiy Sapronov in an interview on the official website of the UAF. — Since, according to preliminary information, Germany will host the tournament, they can be considered favorites. Of course, we will try to give a good fight not only to the Germans but also to the rest of the participants. By the way, at the end of April, we won against Romania on the UEFA Development Tournament.

— When will the organizers decide on the schedule and in which cities the matches will take place?

— By June 21. We can definitely say that we will play against Germany in the first round. It may be possible to conduct a multi-day preparation stage directly before the start of the tournament. We hope that the hosts, with UEFA support, will meet us halfway.

— Your wards passed a test at the end of April on the UEFA Development Tournament. How many players who played in Romania do you count on for this fall?

— On 12, and with the rest we will have to decide. There are problems in the center of defense and half-back. The Ukrainian championship among the strongest starts in August, and I will have some time to watch potential newcomers. Also earlier, in July, I will analyze video recordings of matches involving young Ukrainian players who play abroad.

Group 4: Wales, Faroe Islands, Kazakhstan, Albania.

Group 5: Slovakia, Montenegro, Lithuania.

Group 6: Estonia, Turkey, Moldova.

Matches will take place from August 1 to November 20, 2023.

Teams finishing fourth in their groups in League A will continue the season in the second round of League B. The seeding for the second round will depend on the positions teams secure in the first round. Sweden also participates in the competition despite having a direct qualification to the final stage as hosts.

Teams from League B (including those that were relegated from League A in the second qualifying round of Euro-2022/2023) compete for promotion to League A in six groups. Group winners and runners-up with the best record against teams finishing first and third in their respective groups will advance to the higher division.
