On the eve of the gathering of Ukraine's youth team (U-16), dedicated to their participation in UEFA's Development Tournament, the head coach of the team, Volodymyr Yezersky, answered questions from the official website of the Ukrainian Football Association.
— Mr. Volodymyr Ivanovich, this is the first gathering of a new national team. What hopes do you have for this work?
— Everyone knows under what circumstances Ukraine's youth teams are currently assembling. There is no precedence in DYPFLU (Youth Football League). Due to the war, many young boys have left the country. Therefore, the upcoming gathering in Slovakia and the UEFA Development Tournament, where we were invited, will be a selection process. We want to see how players who play abroad are doing. I am grateful to the leadership of the UAF for meeting us halfway and giving us several additional days for training.
— Are all foreign players called up for this gathering practicing regularly?
— It's difficult to keep track, as the boys represent youth teams, so we gather information as much as possible. At the same time, it should be noted that many footballers could not be invited due to technical reasons.
This gathering is also aimed at getting closer acquainted with potential candidates for the team. And already for the next work, which will take place in Ukraine, players representing national collectives will be invited.
— What tasks do you set before the team for the UEFA Development Tournament in Slovakia?
— What can be goals if this is the first gathering of this national team? First and foremost, we want to get acquainted and recognize the qualities of players.
