Last Sunday, March 5, three more matches of the 16th round of the Ukrainian Championship took place. "Zorya," "Rukh," and "Shakhtar" won their games.
In Oleksandria, "Vorskla" was unable to maintain its lead over "Zorya," which it had established in the first half thanks to a double from Albanian striker Taulan Seferi. After halftime, the Luhansk team staged an astonishing comeback — they scored three goals against their hosts. Vladimir Brajko netted a brace, and Nazariy Rusin also found the back of the net once. The final score was 3:2 in favor of "Zorya," who played with numerical superiority from the 72nd minute.
In Uzhhorod, "Rukh" managed to edge out Kharkiv's "Metalist." The decisive goal came from Yaroslav Karabin in the 76th minute — 2:1.
Donetsk "Shakhtar," after yesterday's setbacks against "Dnipro-1" and "Dynamo," continued their demolition of Kharkiv's "Metalist 1925" in Lviv. Igor Yovchevich's charges scored seven goals against the opposition. Oleksandr Zubkov netted a brace, while Bogdan Mykhailichenko, Lassina Traoré, Ivan Petryak, and Yaroslav Rakitskiy each found the back of the net once. Another goal was an own goal by Igor Kurylo.
In Shakhtar's lineup were players who had been called up for the most recent national team training camp: Trubin, Bondar, Mykhailichenko (goal), Stepanenko (assisted a goal, substituted in the 46th minute), Zubkov (two goals, substituted in the 46th minute).
