According to the approved UEFA Women's Football Committee and ratified by the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Association of Football Unified Calendar of Events in Women's Football for 2023, the first training camp under Sergei Sapronov will start on February 26, followed by the second stage of selection for the U17 Euro-2023 in early March. The blue-and-yellow team is in Group 6 alongside Bulgaria and Latvia. The tournament will take place in Bulgaria from March 3 to 9.
"We are aiming for first place, which would allow us to return to League A. We will put in maximum effort to achieve this goal. Perhaps as early as April 2023, if the situation allows, we will see another group of young players at the Development Cup in Romania with an eye on participating in the next continental championship's first qualifying round,"— said Sergei Sapronov earlier in a comment to the UAF.
In April, blue-and-yellow players are expected to participate in a training camp and the UEFA Development Tournament in Romania from 22nd to 29th. Four teams will take part in the tournament: Ukraine, Romania, Greece, and Azerbaijan.
In September, the women's U17 national team of Ukraine is looking forward to matches in a new cycle—the Euro-2024 selection round, whose draw will take place in June.
U17 Euro-2023. Second Round
In League A, 28 teams are playing across seven groups, including seven national teams that were promoted from League B after the first round. The seven group winners of the second round in League A (and the best runner-up if Estonia finishes first in its group) will qualify for the final stage, which will take place from May 14 to 26, 2023. Teams finishing fourth in their groups will start the 2023/2024 season in League B.
Teams in League B, including those that were relegated after the autumn stage from League A, are competing for spots in the first round of League A in six groups (two with four participants and four with three). These spots will be awarded to group winners as well as the best runner-up.
As a reminder, Ukraine's national team finished last in its group during the first round and was relegated to League B.
