UEFA PLAYMAKERS — this is a unique sports program that provides an enjoyable and safe introduction to football training for girls aged 5–8 through movement, play, and the magic of Disney storytelling.

After the full-scale Russian invasion began, the program in Ukraine became a wonderful tool for stabilizing the emotional state of girls. Football and fun help girls feel connected, close, and supported.

Program objectives:

— introduce girls to football by creating an environment where fun, friends, and football are at the center.

— implement a new individual coaching approach that uses imagination (inspired by Disney stories and characters) as a tool for training and acquiring football skills;

— refine girls' life skills, basic movement skills, and teach them the basics of football to foster lifelong interest in the sport.

In Ukraine, with support from the program team, the Ukrainian Football Association, parents, and coaches, 20 out of 30 initial Playmakers centers remain open despite ongoing war. Currently, around 900 girls are participating in the program. Ten new centers opened this fall in safer regions of the country. Coaches at these new centers have undergone special training and are ready to bring Disney magic to life through football sessions.

The program is designed to develop positive values and skills that can be used in everyday life. Physical activity and football can be great teachers, helping young people develop positive behavior, such as respecting others, making new friends, speaking and listening, working well in a team, having a positive attitude, and overcoming setbacks.

New centers received equipment thanks to UEFA support, while another 18 are ready to resume the program once it becomes sufficiently safe.

The updated list of centers can be found here.
