After the 14th round, the teams that will continue to compete for promotion next spring and those fighting to retain their place in the first league became known.

From Saturday's matches, we highlight the one that took place in Kyiv, where the nominal hosts from "Metallurga" received "Obolon" at the "Left Bank" stadium. Since opponents had already secured their spots in Group B for the championship round, the battle was for "golden points."

The debut belonged to the Zaporizhzhia footballers who went ahead on 14th minute: Valeriy Sad from the penalty line delivered a tricky shot — 1:0. The situation was equalized by the "brewers" rather unexpectedly, when at the end of the first half Oleksandr Chernov skillfully scored after a rebound.

And after halftime, the ball was more often controlled by Vladimir Mykytin's wards, but an outburst of activity from Kyiv residents on 57th minute allowed them to score the decisive goal. After a mass attack, undaunted Chernov assisted Vitaliy Gryshy who scored with his head. 1:2. "Obolon" ended Zaporizhzhia team's six-match unbeaten streak.

And on Sunday, attention was mainly focused on three matches in Group A. In Lviv, "Karpaty" and "Polesye" fought for the "golden points." The guests were the only first league team that had not lost yet. And Yuri Kalitvinets' wards managed to keep their zero losses record in the tournament table intact. On 14th minute Denis Yanakov forced the hosts to capitulate. Shortly after, Pilyp Budkivsky wasted two golden opportunities. And on 30th minute Lvivians found themselves in a minority after Oleh Lien's expulsion. The game advantage of Polissya players did not raise doubts, but the hosts defended their possessions.

After halftime on the field there was an intense battle. On 48th minute Lvivian Rostyslav Taranukha equalized the score, but the last word remained with Polissya's universal player Yevhen Morozko. 1:2. "Karpaty" concluded the first half of the season on a minor note, performing worse than expected.

And based on the results of matches in Chernivtsi and Dunaivtsi, the last representative of the top quartet had to be determined. It became Ternopil "Niva," which took the lead over "Bukovyna" (3:0), while another contender, "Prykarpattia," conceded to "Epitsentru" (0:2).

In a similar situation in Group B, "Kremenchuk" achieved the required result against "Chernihiv" (3:0) and also advanced to the championship round where Polissya and Obolon are considered top contenders.
