After defeating Kosovo (1:0), the team coached by Sergiy Nagornyy played their second match in Group 3 in the Swedish city of Norrköping (Norrköping Idrottsparken stadium) against Cyprus.
The blue-and-yellow team started well and were ahead as early as the 10th minute. Alexandros Kayafas fouled inside his own penalty area, and Ivan Varfolomeyev scored from the resulting penalty kick. However, the Cypriots did not give up and equalized ten minutes later. The goal was scored by Andreas Savva — 1:1.
In the second half, the game was decided by Sergiy Nagornyy's substitute player Anton Tarnenko, who came on at the 58th minute mark. Shortly after coming on, the defensive midfielder from Dynamo Kyiv scored a brace within two minutes, turning the tide of the match. Oleksandr Fedor sealed it with a goal in the 79th minute — 4:1.

Thus, the Ukraine U-19 team has earned six points and secured their place in the elite round of qualification for Euro 2023, as they will not finish below second place. The only question remaining is from which position blue-and-yellow will qualify. Their next match will be on November 23 against Sweden.
As a reminder, the top two teams in each of the thirteen groups and the best third-placed team (based on results against the first and second placed teams) will join Portugal in the elite round of qualification. Malta earned an automatic spot to the final tournament as hosts. The winners of seven group stages in the elite round will also qualify. The draw for this stage of the tournament will take place on December 8, 2022.
