The Nations League match between the Ukraine and Scotland national teams will take place on September 27 in Krakow (kickoff at 9:45 PM Kyiv time). The day before the game, midfielder Ruslan Malinovskiy participated in a press conference alongside head coach of the blue-and-yellow team Oleksandr Petrakov.
— Tomorrow's match for the Ukrainian national team is akin to a final. Do you feel any pressure on the team?
— It’s better to play such matches when there is a goal and responsibility in the team. We knew that after our victory over Armenia, we needed one result against Scotland. We will be playing for a win tomorrow. We have already played two matches, so it's necessary to prepare properly for the next one, draw conclusions from the previous game with the Scots, analyze what we did wrong and make improvements. Tomorrow we need to play much better.
— The match against Scotland in the UEFA Nations League 2022 qualification was perceived as incredibly important. However, there is no such hype among fans now. How do you feel about people's emotions before tomorrow’s encounter?
— There were different games and different results. The Scots made conclusions after the first match and changed something. I wouldn't say that they played much better in the first half. We lacked finishing, the final pass. If we had scored in the first half, the game would have gone differently.
In tomorrow's match, we need to endure 90 minutes physically. We should play stronger in this regard. We need to make some changes as they did. We will try to play a bit differently and more aggressively tomorrow.
Of course, it is already the third game. In every match, the national team of Ukraine comes out and plays for our country, for all those who support us in good or bad times. There are always three possible results in football, but the main thing is to give everything on the field. So we will give everything and hope for a positive result.
— How will playing on neutral ground affect tomorrow's game?
— We feel at home in Krakow, so it’s not an issue.
