The Ukrainian club "Dnipro-1" made its debut in the group stages of European competitions. In the first round, Oleksandr Kucher's charges faced Dutch AZ. Due to Russia's military invasion, Dnipropetrovian had to play their home match in Košice, Slovakia.

The game started under a downpour, which affected ball movement. In the entire first half, only one dangerous moment was created by "Dnipro-1," when after Dobik's cross, a defender cleared the ball onto the post.
