Today, July 20, in Łódź, with a match between Kyiv's "Dynamo" and Turkish "Fenerbahçe" within the second qualifying round of the Champions League, Ukraine kicks off its European Cup season-2022/2023.

In total, five teams will represent our association on the international stage in the 2022/2023 season.

The club that held first place in the UPL table as of February 24, "Shakhtar," was scheduled to start with a playoff round for the Champions League. However, due to Russia's disqualification and Real Madrid's victory in the Europa League, which simultaneously entered the Champions League zone in Spain, the miners received an immediate pass to the group stage.

The second-placed club, "Dynamo," will start from the second qualifying round of the Champions League. To reach the Champions League group stage, it needs to overcome three opponents. In the second qualification round, the opponent is Turkish "Fenerbahçe"; in the third round, if successful, they face Austrian "Sturm." If unsuccessful, the white-and-blues will have to play against Czech "Slovácko" in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

The third club by ranking, "Dnipro-1," considering the suspension of the VBet Cup Ukraine season 2021/2022, will represent Ukraine in the Europa League — in the playoff qualification round. In case of failure in the Europa League playoffs, they automatically move to the group stage of the Conference League.

In the basic register of the Conference League, the country has two delegates. The fourth team in the UPL ("Zorya") will start from the third qualification round, where it will face the winner of the matchup between "Vlaznia" (Albania) and "Universitatea" (Romania), while the fifth team ("Vorskla") starts from the second qualification round, where tomorrow, July 21, they play against Swedish AIK. In case Viktor Skripnik's team advances to the next stage, they will face the winner of the duel between "Valmiera" (Latvia) and "Shkendija" (North Macedonia). Thus, our clubs need to overcome two or three opponents respectively to enter the main draw of the Conference League.
