The women's national beach soccer team of Ukraine is preparing at Kyiv's Hydropark for the first stage of the year's main tournament—the Euroleague-2022, which will take place from June 30 to July 3 in Nazaré, Portugal. The head coach of the blue-and-yellow team, Yury Klimenko, has called up ten players, and two or three more are expected to join the team directly in Portugal.

Composition of Ukraine's women's national team

Goalkeeper: Iryna Slavych.

Field players: Yuliya Deytchar, Olesya Granat, Mariia Tikhonova, Yuliia Kostyuk, Anastasiia Klipachenko, Myroslava Vypasnyak, Iryna Vasyluyk, Hanna Davidenko, Marianna Kramna.

The coach of our national team spoke about the preparation for Euroleague-2022 and outlined the tasks for Ukrainian women at the first stage of the tournament.

"We started preparing for the tournament in Kyiv on May 14. Only four girls joined training from day one. Later, field players from Poltava and Zaporizhzhia, as well as goalkeeper Iryna Slavych from Kyiv's Dynamo, joined us. So we mainly worked with a full team, and during the last weekly microcycle, two more footballers from Poland arrived. Initially, we had three training sessions per week, but in the last days of June—four. On Thursday, we played a friendly match against Kyiv Arsenal U-19. This is a very good team, with strong boys, and for us it was a great test.

We also hope to strengthen our team directly in Portugal. Five of our girls are involved not only in beach soccer but also in futsal. Currently, they are in Portugal because from July 1-3, the Ukrainian national futsal team will participate in the Euro-2022 final tournament in Gondomar city. We and the futsal team coach Oleg Shaytanov keep track of things and expect at least two or three players who were previously part of our squad to join us there.

It is only in Portugal that we will finally come together as a full team and have three to four preparatory days. We will work on tactical ideas during the pre-game microcycle—unlike in Kyiv, where functional preparation was emphasized.

In Nazaré, we will play three matches, and in September in Italy—we'll have two more. At the first stage, our opponents are very tough—the teams from Spain, England, and Czech Republic. Spain is number one in the BSWW ranking, while England is third. We start the tournament with these two matches, of course, not expecting an easy stroll. We understand that a lot depends on these two games. Our task is to accumulate as many points as possible at the Portuguese stage, and overall—to make it into the top four so we can compete for Euroleague-2022 medals in the Super Final."

We add that on June 26, the team flew from Krakow to Portugal.
