Kyiv Dynamo defender and Ukraine national team player Oleksandr Karavaev commented on the League of Nations match against Armenia (3:0).
In the third round game of the League of Nations against Armenia, the Ukrainian national team secured a victory. After the match, defender Oleksandr Karavaev answered journalists' questions.
— You have already made 13 assists for the Ukraine national team. There's not much left to catch Andriy Yarmolenko's record...
— I'm already annoying everyone with this. For myself, it feels great, and now even the whole team is teasing me about it. But it's nice because we have a very friendly group. When we joke like this, it adds a positive mood. We are one unit, which leads to results.
— In the episode with your goal, you first tried to make an assist and then decided to take care of it yourself...
— Fortune was on my side because the ball bounced right back to me, and all I had to do was score. It's great that we capitalize on such moments.
— Did you not notice that the ball hit your left foot?
— Of course, no. I've been working on this shot from my left side for 30 years.
— Do you remember your previous goal for the national team?
— Yes, in a match against Japan. I played on defense, then Konoplyanka passed to me, and I finished off that attack with a shot.
— The game was not easy because Armenia blocked all our approaches, you couldn't score in the first half...
— We watched their matches. If they play like this, it also yields results. They did so against Ireland. The first half ended in a draw, and although the Irish controlled the ball much of the time, Armenia scored a great goal from 30 meters out in the second half, while the opponents couldn't do anything about it. So they retreated from that strategy. But when we scored, Armenia opened up, we had more opportunities, and we brought the match to its logical conclusion.
