The final match of the 2022 World Cup playoff between Wales — Ukraine, which will take place today, June 5, in Cardiff at the Cardiff City Stadium (kickoff at 19:00 Kyiv time), will be the fourth meeting between these opponents.

The first two matches against Wales were played by our national team in 2001 as part of the World Cup qualification campaign. Then, both games ended in draws, with Andriy Shevchenko (away) and Gennadiy Zubov (home) scoring for the blue-and-yellow.

The third meeting between the opponents took place in March 2016. It was a friendly match that ended with our team's minimal victory thanks to Andriy Yarmolenko's goal.

By the way, besides the hero of that game, three more footballers who participated in it are currently in the camp of Ukraine's national team: Andriy Pyatov, Taras Stepanenko, and Serhiy Sydorchuk.
