Youth team of Ukraine prepares in Istanbul for the final matches of Euro 2023 (U-21) against the Faroe Islands, North Macedonia, France, and Armenia.

The blue-and-yellow team is preparing for upcoming qualification matches in Turkey from Tuesday, May 17. Until Friday, training sessions were held twice a day with theoretical classes. On Saturday and Sunday there was one session each, and on Monday a friendly match is scheduled.

Currently, there are 23 players in the team, all of whom are healthy. Two more foreign-based players will join next week: Bogdan Vyunnyk on May 23 and Ivan Zhelezko on May 29.

Today at lunchtime, the team warmly congratulated one of its members on his birthday: defender Mykhailo Mikhaylenko turned 21 and received a commemorative jersey from head coach Ruslan Rotan.

Recall that the home matches against North Macedonia and France will be held in Istanbul at the «Essenyurt Nedim Kadioglu» stadium, where local team «Istanbulspor» plays (capacity 4,500). Both matches will start at 19:45.

As for the away matches of Ruslan Rotan's wards, the match against Faroe Islands — Ukraine will take place in Torshavn on the «Torshovur» stadium (kick-off at 20:00 Kyiv time), and the game Armenia — Ukraine will be played at the Yerevan Football Academy Stadium (kick-off at 18:00 Kyiv time).

In the final stage of Euro 2023 (U-21), 16 teams will participate — Romania and Georgia as hosts, plus 14 national teams that qualify through the selection process (nine group winners, the best second-placed team, and four playoff winners).

Playoff: September 20–27, 2022.

Final tournament: June/July 2023.

The final tournament featuring 16 national teams will be held at four stadiums in Romania (two in Cluj-Napoca and two in Bucharest) and four in Georgia (in Batumi, Poti, and two in Tbilisi). The opening match will take place in Romania, while the final will be played in Georgia.
