The national team of Ukraine played a friendly match in Croatia, where they failed to secure any victory against the home team. Five matches (all took place in the capital — Zagreb) ended with four losses and one draw.
There was another encounter — in June 1993 — on the Split stadium field against a local club after losing in Zagreb. Then, Oleg Bazylevich's players lost — 0:2, at the end of the match Sergey Bezhener (Dnipro) failed to convert a penalty kick. The goalposts of our national team were guarded by Bogdan Strontsitsky from "Karpaty," who never played for the national team on an official level.
