The Ternopil region joined "Open Football Lessons" to help child refugees

On April 18, in the city of Buchach in the Ternopil region, a training for local volunteers of "Open Football Lessons" took place with participants from Buchach and Zalizhitsi (head of the regional football association - Taras Yurik, project coordinators - Vasyl Zarotsky and Volodymyr Yasuchenya).

The seminar was held in a hybrid format — featuring the national coordinator of the project from the UAF, Yeugeniy Stolitenko, as well as online participation by leading instructors Viktor Tvardovskyy, Serhiy Chesheyka, Lianna Kopilova, Yuri Lutsenko, and Oleksii Lazarenko.

The Ternopil region has taken up the relay of preparatory training sessions in Western Ukraine following Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, and Lviv. Upcoming seminars are planned for Zakarpattia (April 19), Ivano-Frankivsk (April 21), and Chernivtsi (April 27).

The overall goal of the "Open Football Lessons" project is to support children in vulnerable situations, unaccompanied children, orphans, and other unprotected children who have suffered from the war and were forced to relocate to Western Ukraine (the project is currently being implemented in seven regions — Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi oblasts).

In addition to the overall goal, the project has three specific objectives:

— provide immediate humanitarian aid (medical supplies, food, and non-food items) to children in vulnerable situations and their families;

— provide psychosocial support to children through a powerful social tool of mass football, through play and open football events that will unite the specified target groups of children with local children;

— provide material and moral support to cross-sectoral networks united by football in Western Ukraine in their efforts to help affected target groups of children.
